Landre Scur, the breath of the Resettum

Provincia di Pordenone

10 - 15 people

Lake Coldai is a beautiful small lake of glacial origin with cold, clear waters, located more than two thousand meters below the walls of the Civetta.
The small grassy valley that welcomes it combined with the turquoise waters make it resemble a coral atoll with an enviable location, ideal for viewing some of the most famous Dolomite peaks.
Pushing up to the ridge above it will allow us to admire a thousand meters below the town of Alleghe and the lake of the same name.
For much of the hike we will have the company of the majestic Pelmo, and although the direction of travel moves us away from it, it will be as we reach the highest elevations that its imposing bulk will offer itself in all its glory.
DETAILS
We will start from Casera Fontanafredda just before Staulanza Pass, reaching Col dei Baldi and the Casera Pioda basin crossing pastures and coniferous forests.
Here the mule track becomes a path and the bottom the typical dolomite one.
Ever-narrower turns herald the landing at the Sonnino refuge at Coldai, just beyond the namesake fork and the beautiful pond.
The trails are all well-marked and present no particular difficulty.

The floor plan of the house in which I grew up reflects an old custom whereby the kitchen faces south and the rooms face north.
This good design rule reserved for me a small room overlooking hills and foothills, woods and meadows, inevitable not to feel attraction to that world that was just begging to be explored and that I had begun to know from that window.
As I grew up, my gaze went beyond those hills, further north, to the Dolomites and into all those mountains that give me excitement.
There they are, after all, outside my bedroom window.
"If the point at which you plunge into a river is the present, I thought, then the past is the water that has passed you by, the water that goes downward and where there is nothing left for you, while the future is the water that comes down from above, bringing dangers and surprises. The past is downstream, the future is upstream.
Whatever fate is, it dwells in the mountains above our heads."
