Mini Trekking on the Pale di San Martino

Provincia di Trento

8-10

This 2-day mini trek will take us on a discovery of a wonderful section of the Pale di San Martino, the largest mountain range in the Dolomites. We will walk surrounded by majestic vertical walls that originated 300 million years ago when a huge coral reef was formed in a shallow sea, which erosion has gradually transformed into what we are privileged to admire today. Enclosed in the circular crown formed by the reliefs of this group is a vast plateau, the Altopiano delle Pale, a mysterious plateau of pure limestone rock, a lunar place suspended at 2,700 meters above sea level that we will have a chance to explore during the second day in which we will also reach Cima Fradusta at almost 3,000m altitude.
Day 1: From Cant del Gal to Pradidali Refuge – 7km 1100D+
Leaving the cars in the parking lot of the Cant del Gal hotel, just a few kilometers from the center of Fiera di Primiero, we will kick off our trek by going into the beautiful Pradidali Valley. We will follow the wide path along the bed of the Canali creek, then enter a lush mixed forest of larch and spruce, where the climb will become steeper. As we climb in altitude, the landscape will change markedly, becoming bare and rocky, and gradually grandiose views of the Val Canali, flanked by majestic dolomite walls, will open up. Arriving at almost 2,000 meters above sea level, we will begin to catch a glimpse of the Pradidali Refuge, where we will spend our first night surrounded by towering rock towers and in the presence of the cathedral of Cima Canali, a true spectacle of nature.
Day 2: From Pradidali Refuge to Cant del Gal – 15km 900D+
After a restful sleep and a hearty Dolomite breakfast we will set off loaded for our second day in the direction of the Fradusta Pass, over which we will find ourselves in a giant basin carved and incised by the millennial action of the ice. The green will give way to a white expanse of rocky dunes dotted with rare floral endemics. In front of us we will be able to see the three-thousand-meter peaks of Cimon della Pala, Vezzana and Bureloni in the distance. Surrounded by an almost surreal lunar landscape, we will quickly and easily reach the summit of Fradusta 2939m, once the second largest glacier in the Dolomites after Marmolada and now also known as “the navel of the Pale di San Martino” for the spectacular 360-degree view of all the peaks in the group. We will descend through the spectacular and wild Vallon delle Lede and, passing by the Minazio bivouac, return to our starting point.
A good level of training and habit of walking in the mountains is required.

Hi, it's Jade!
I grew up between Vittorio Veneto, the town where I was born, and Chies, a small town in the mountains of Alpago, my mother's homeland where my grandparents still live.
A lifelong lover of sports and nature, I am a fitness instructor at the gym and have been mountaineering, trail running, and cycling both road and mountain biking for several years.
The mountains and I have always sought each other out even though unfortunately life has kept us apart for some time, first during my years of study in Venice where I majored in linguistic and cultural mediation with a Chinese-English major and later when work led me to move for long periods to Asia, first to Shanghai and then to Hong Kong.
It was upon my return to Italy that I began to really cultivate my passion for the outdoors, getting closer and closer to the mountains until I fell madly in love with them.
And it was on the wave of this overwhelming love that after working for a few years in local companies as a foreign salesperson, I decided to change my life and enroll in the Veneto Mountain Guides College's Medium Mountain Accompanies course, which allowed me to turn this great passion of mine into a profession.
For me, mountains are joy, serenity, curiosity, energy, effort, relief, wonder, sharing, reflection, discovery, adventure, freedom.
To put it in one word, it's LIFE....and I look forward to taking you with me to safely experience this extraordinary environment that will be able to give you unique emotions that you will carry in your heart forever!
