Ring of the lakes of the Monscera basin
25 € per person
The Monscera basin is a vast plateau at the head of the Bognanco Valley.
The hike we are going to undertake is a nice loop tour circumnavigating the entire area touching its three beautiful alpine lakes (Agro, Monscera and Gattascosa lakes).
From the spruce forests of the San Bernardo Alp to the wide pastures of the Monscera Pass admiring the high peaks of the “Simplon Triptych” (Weissmiess 4017m. – Lagginhorn 4010m. – Fletschorn 3997m.) “observed” by the more modest but rewarding peaks of the upper Bognanco Valley, also nicknamed “the valley of 100 waterfalls.”
Note the particular alpine area where we will be walking, we will in fact be located on the edge of the Pennine Alps.
From the Monscera Pass, in fact, it will be interesting to spot the massif of Mount Leo, which, with its glaciers, marks the opposite edge of the Lepontine Alps, contiguous with the Pennine Alps.
A worthwhile excursion to learn more about the breakdown of the Alpine system as well.
