It is precisely because of the very special climatic conditions that this valley gives us absolutely splendid winter views even when in other neighboring areas the snow has already melted.
This is a rather flat area within the Cansiglio forest that is at a slightly lower elevation than adjacent areas. This characteristic causes the phenomenon of thermal inversion to be particularly pronounced, and thus the snow and the effect of nighttime cold give a spectacular scenery.
We will enter this valley on a rather warm day where we will not even feel the cold!
We will only enjoy the effects of a fairy-tale landscape within the beech and fir forest.
DETAILS
The starting point of the snowshoe hike will be the Valmenera farm, on the northeastern side of the Cansiglio forest.
The slopes are moderate, and the climbs not too long.
The route has no technical difficulty and is also suitable for those who have never used snowshoes.
Difficulty level: easy
Elevation gain about 250 meters
A minimum level of training and habit of walking in the mountains is required.
